Coaching
Sport and Recreation facilitates training for coaches in a number of areas including:
- Beginning Coaching General Principles (available online)
- Intermediate Coaching General Principles
- Coach Mentoring Training Program
- Presenter Training Courses
- Assessor Training Courses
Courses may be offered throughout the year, dates are set and individuals can register and attend.

Sporting Organisations and Clubs can identify their own needs, a specific group of people and have a course tailored and presented at their selected time and day.
Officiating
Sport and Recreation facilitates training for officials in a number of areas including:
- Introductory Officiating General Principles (available online)
- Advanced Officiating General Principles
Courses can be organised by Sport and Recreation and modified to suit your needs.

Play by the Rules promotes fun, fair and safe behaviour in sport and provides information and resources on how to prevent and deal with inappropriate and unlawful behaviour.
The Coloured Shirt Program (CSP) was launched in Darwin in March 2010.
The aims of the program are to:
- Make new officials easily identifiable, so that they can be recognised and supported
- Raise awareness and increase the recognition and support of new officials
- Create a culture of support for officials via the education of players, spectators, coaches and the media
