Grants

The Territory Government’s comprehensive sport and active recreation grants program is the cornerstone of its community development activities aimed at building the capacity of organisations within the industry.

Funds are available through a number of different programs to support the development of sport, active recreation  and local government organisations to assist the delivery of services and programs within the community.

All application based grant progams can be applied for through the Department’s Grantstracker system. Guidelines for each grant type are available below, please ensure these are thoroughly read to ensure eligibility criteria are met before applying.

Grass Roots Development Grants

Grass Roots Development Grants allow organisations (including clubs, groups, service deliverers, shire and municipal councils) to apply for up to $3,000.

Facility and Major Capital Equipment Grants

Facility and Major Capital Equipment Grants allow organisations (including clubs, groups, peak sporting bodies, active recreation organisations, service deliverers, shire and municipal councils) to apply for funding to help improve their capacity to provide affordable and accessible sport and recreation opportunities through development of their facilities.

Peak Sporting Body Grants

Peak Sporting Body Grants allow peak Territory sporting bodies to apply for funding to assist with increasing their capacity to develop and deliver sport. Active Recreation Organisation Grants

Territory Leader Recreation Organisations and Regional Leader Recreation organisations can apply for funding for active recreation programs that provide pathways to sport.

Active Remote Community Grants

Active Remote Community Grants provide assistance to remote communities to deliver sport and recreation activities to members of remote communities throughout the Territory. Aboriginal Benefit Account

ABA grants are awarded to projects which help improve the lives of Aboriginal people living in the Northern Territory. Funds can be used to support initiatives that promote economic development, small business, land and sea management, community enhancement, education and leadership.

Australian Sports Commission

The ASC provides grants in a great number of areas including women, leadership, representative, indigenous and volunteers.

Australian Sports Foundation

The Australian Sports Foundation operates the Sport Incentive Program which aims to increase opportunities for Australians to participate in sport, and/or excel in sports performance.

Community Benefit Fund

NT Department of Justice grant program that includes vehicles, small grants and major community grants

Computers for the community (NT DBE)

DBE assists community organisations and to support publicly spirited activities in the Northern Territory through the donation of surplus, working computing equipment.
