The Northern Territory Institute of Sport (NTIS) Strength and Conditioning service focuses on developing the underlying physical qualities necessary for athletes to perform in their chosen sports at the highest level.

This involves gym training to improve stability, strength/power, speed, and endurance through all joint ranges in all directions. Also addressing any specific musculoskeletal predispositions to injury as identified through physiotherapy and movement assessments. Improvement in these areas within the scholarship year, and over the long term, is a primary objective of strength and conditioning.

Sport specific speed/agility, strength/power and endurance development programs delivered in the field or gym, are incorporated into the annual program managed by the head coach for each sport.
