Biomechanics and Skill Acquisition
Biomechanist / Skill Aquisition

The Northern Territory Institute of Sport Biomechanics service provides observation, measurement and analysis of sporting performance by gathering evidence and providing feedback to coaches and athletes on the modifications required to improve the technical aspects of performance.
Biomechanics works closely with Physiotherapy and Strength and Conditioning to identify and minimise any potential injury risks for athletes. Analysis can encompass laboratory testing (under controlled conditions), testing during training (in the field) and analysis during competition.
Various learning and feedback strategies are also incorporated into an athlete’s training regime. These are designed to accelerate the acquisition and development of skill and to maximise the transfer of skill and correct decision-making to the competition environment.
