Dr Glenn Edwards – Principal Scientist
Qualifications
Glenn Edwards joined Biodiversity South in 1994 and has 22 years of experience in arid zone ecological research. Glenn has a BSc Degree with Honours and a PhD in Ecology through the University of NSW.
Glenn is a Principal Scientist with Biodiversity South and has conducted original research on a diverse range of organisms including native Australian mammals (red kangaroo, central rock-rat, dingo) and introduced pest species (European rabbit, goat, camel, cat, fox, dog). Glenn has published 18 peer-reviewed research papers and has contributed to state and national policy dealing with the management of threatened species and vertebrate pests in Australia.
Glenn has represented the Northern Territory on the national Vertebrate Pest Committee since 1999 and is a project leader with the Desert Knowledge Cooperative Research Centre.
Research
Glenn’s current research includes “Desert Fire” and development of a cross jurisdictional management plan for feral camels both through the Desert Knowledge Cooperative Research Centre.
Special work-related interests include the management of pest animals and population ecology. Outside of work Glenn enjoys woodwork and listening to music.
Prizes/Awards
Glenn was awarded the University medal for his Honours research in 1983.
