Angus Duguid - Scientist
Qualifications
Angus graduated in science (forestry) at the Australian National University in 1986 and worked in forest management planning and associated computer modelling for three years.
During that time he completed a graduate diploma in science with a thesis on the application of optimisation modelling to forest planning. In 1991 he moved to Alice Springs to work for Biodiversity South and has continued to work in Central Australia for the past 14 years.
Research
His research is varied including: the application of GIS to species distribution modelling, more general GIS and database management, biological survey, fire management to protect a rare wattle (Acacia undoolyana), fire ecology, the planning and implementation of prescribed fire on national parks, and wetland inventory and ecology.
Current research interests include arid zone wetlands, arid zone botany, fire ecology and management, and rare plants.
