Is There a Croc in the Wrong Spot?
Crocodiles are a natural part of the NT ecosystem and are common in many inland and coastal waterways. There are many rivers and estuaries that have high populations of saltwater crocodiles. These locations can be great for safely viewing crocodiles in their natural environments, as long as you remain out of the water and keep a respectable distance.
A crocodile is in the wrong spot if it is:
- Behaving aggressively towards humans
- Is in close proximity to any area where people are swimming, most notably children
- Is within or near a designated swimming area
- Is within any of the NT Government exclusion zones
- Is within any of the no tolerance zones, or
- Is in an area where it poses a serious risk to public safety.
