Crocodile Safety On Private Land
Allowing or promoting swimming within waterways on private land is a big responsibility. It should be considered in light of the risk versus the management actions to reduce or limit that level of risk.
Actions that Parks and Wildlife Service adopt to limit or reduce risk of fatal crocodile attack occurring on their managed areas may include:
- Opening and closing locations dependent on seasonal conditions
- Aerial surveys
- Night time spotlight surveys held over several nights
- Float monitoring
- Signage
- Trapping
- Harpooning
- Awareness raising
- Media releases
- Problem crocodile reports.
