Gardens Gossip

September

In September the dry season is well and truly drawing to a close as the temperature and humidity climbs.

We have had our first light shower of rain which was very welcome.

Visitor’s numbers though are still steady, with many visitors coming through to enjoy the Gardens in the dry season.

Many of these visitors interact with the Gardens horticultural team and leave richer for having their questions answered, their interest in gardens stimulated, memories heard and experiences shared.

Gardens Projects

The Snake Beans Community Food Garden is coping with the change in the weather and good crops are still being enjoyed.

The chook run is nearing completion and will soon provide a home to six lucky chooks.

The Botanic Gardens  Friends Group are busy preparing for their next  plant sale in October and the Snake Bean community food gardens are to sell refreshments, herbs and kitchen plants on the day.

The Primary loop project is progressing with beds being built, and rocks being placed.

Owl Activities - to see the most recent sighting of the Rufous owl please check our Owl Sighting book located in the Orientation Centre.

It has not been spotted lately, perhaps it will come back during the wet season.
