NT Heritage Register

The Northern Territory has a unique and diverse natural and cultural heritage that is recognised and protected through a variety of heritage lists and registers.

The NT Heritage Register is established under the NT Heritage Conservation Act and contains details about all declared heritage places and objects. It also includes details of interim conservation orders, conservation management plans and heritage agreements.

The Register is now available in a searchable on-line format where you can find information about all places and objects that have been nominated to the Register, not just ones that have been declared.

It is important to note the following:

Some of the most important heritage places in the Northern Territory are subject to Commonwealth heritage legislation. In some cases, this means that such places are not on the NT Heritage Register at all. Examples include the two World Heritage Places in the Northern Territory, Kakadu and Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Parks. Click here for more information.
