2010: Draft Concept Design and Community Consultation
Prior to and during the development of a master plan and concept design for the Katherine Regional Cultural Precinct the Katherine community were consulted to incorporate their needs and priorities for a future cultural precinct.
2011: Building the Katherine Regional Cultural Precinct
The tender for construction was awarded by the Territory Government in February 2011 to the local company AJL Holdings Ltd. Construction commenced in March 2011.
2012: Handover to the Katherine Community
Once construction of the first stage of the Centre is completed the site and building will be handed over to Katherine Regional Cultural Precinct Ltd. A Director for the establishment phase of Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre has been seed funded by the Territory Government and Katherine Town Council.
Public programs will commence in April and official launch events are being planned for June 2012.
